Tithing

 

Tithing is the practice of giving  the first 10% of a person’s income back to God.  It is one of the tangible ways that we have to put God first in our lives.  Also, it allows us to contribute to the spreading and sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The principle of tithing has been taught throughout the Bible. You may find an example in Genesis 28:20 - 22 regarding tithes, which is giving a tenth of what God has blessed us to have.  Malachi 3:6 -11 gives a deeper understanding of  how God views tithing.

 

Tithing is also an opportunity for us to  show our gratitude to God for providing our daily provisions, to demonstrate our faith, trust in him and to honor him with our finances.  When we tithe, it is an expression of worship and our love for God and his work.
